I am a PhD candidate in Developmental Psychology at the University of Michigan working with Pamela Davis-Kean. My research examines how early socioeconomic and structural contexts shape children’s educational trajectories, and the intergenerational transmission of educational attainment. Drawing on ecological systems theory and life-course perspectives, I seek to understand how risk and resources across family and neighborhood contexts interact and accumulate from early childhood through adolescence to predict young adults’ educational attainment. Specifically, I examine how families’ access to material, educational, and contextual resources, together with opportunities available within neighborhoods, jointly shape educational pathways over time. To examine these questions, I primarily work with large-scale secondary data, using longitudinal, SEM, and multilevel modeling approaches, as well as person-centered methods. Through this work, I seek to understand how socioeconomic disparities in educational equity emerge, persist, and can be mitigated.
