Timetable (April)
BERLIN LIFE FELLOWS' SUGGESTED TIMETABLE
For fellows starting in April of Year 1
In order to receive a LIFE Certificate after obtaining the PhD, fellows need to have attended four Academies and four Seminars, and taken active part in the LIFE program.
Year 1:
Spring Academy: Attendance
Summer Semester Seminar: Participation
Fall Academy: Presentation or Poster
Winter Semester Seminar: Participation
Dissertation Proposal: Submission by either August 31 or February 28
Year 2:
Spring Academy: Proposal Presentation and Discussion
Summer Semester Seminar: Participation
Fall Academy: Presentation or Poster
Winter Semester Seminar: Participation
For Fellows with MPIB contracts:
Presentation at MPIB Research Colloquium in November
Year 3:
Work on Finalizing Thesis
Summer Semester Seminar: Voluntary Participation
Presentation of Dissertation Findings to Fellows and Faculty in Fall
Notes
- Fellows who have not yet enrolled for graduate studies at their respective universities need to register very soon. See Berlin University Registration
- In general, it takes 3–4 "administrative-governance" months after the official submission of the dissertation thesis to gather dissertation evaluations and to schedule the oral defense. Therefore, to complete the dissertation in a given semester, it is advisable to submit the dissertation at the end of the previous semester.
