Newsletter

The idea to publish an electronic newsletter in the context of the International Max Planck Research School LIFE came up after the School's evaluation by an independent scientific committee on behalf of the Max Planck Society in May 2006. The reviewers' overall assessment of the LIFE program was outstandingly positive!

At the same time, the reviewers noted some room for improvement regarding the degree of networking in LIFE, both within and across the different sites. The LIFE newsletter is an initiative in response to this observation. Its raison d'être is to encourage collaboration and interaction among people within the LIFE program. We hope to provide an information platform where fellows, alumni, and faculty members learn more about each other's research, identify colleagues with similar interests and possible projects for collaboration. Faculty, fellows, and alumni can exchange their experiences, report on field research, conferences, and so on.

We encourage readers to e-mail editor  and send her news items of various kinds, such as information about new books, papers, conferences to attend, and similar items. We are also grateful for comments, suggestions for brief articles, and so on. With your help and participation, the newsletter can help to foster a lively and dynamic network among LIFE participants and further vitalize the LIFE endeavor.
