LIFE Seminar Winter 2023/24
Research Designs in Developmental Research
Organizer: Douglas D. Garrett, MPI for Human Development
In this LIFE seminar series, we present and deconstruct different research designs utilized in modern developmental research. In particular, we focus on the different, at times opposing worlds of between- vs. within-person variation as windows into human development. What insights can we gain from these different worlds? Why do they often differ? Is there anything we can do to reconcile those differences? How do we model all of this, and what are the core constraints? An outstanding group of speakers will deconstruct these various issues, pushing attendees to grapple with what "human development" truly represents.
